Privacy Policy

Information stored on your device

FretSense stores practice preferences, quiz statistics, timing calibration, onboarding status, and custom track mappings in local app or browser storage. This information is not uploaded to a FretSense account or cloud database.

Microphone access

Microphone access is requested only when you start a microphone-based practice or recording feature. Guitar audio is processed locally for the feature you selected. FretSense does not upload microphone audio to its servers. You can deny or later revoke microphone access in your device settings.

YouTube videos

JamSense and the Track Mapper use the official embedded YouTube player. The player is loaded only when you choose a YouTube-backed track or load a YouTube link. FretSense does not download, extract, or separately store YouTube video or audio.

When the embedded player loads, Google and YouTube may receive information such as your IP address, device and browser information, cookies or similar identifiers, the requested video, and your interactions with the player. Their handling of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.

Website analytics

The FretSense website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage and improve the product. Google Analytics is not initialized inside the packaged iOS app. Website analytics may include device, browser, approximate location, and interaction information as described in Google's privacy documentation.

Sharing a JamSense mapping

If you use “Copy JamSense Link,” the track name, YouTube video ID, chord progression, and timing information are encoded in the link. Anyone who receives that link can read and import the mapping. Do not put personal information in a track name if you plan to share it.

Data retention and deletion

Because FretSense data is stored locally, you can delete it by resetting statistics and presets in the app, clearing the site's storage in your browser, or deleting the iOS app. FretSense has no account profile to retain after the local data is removed.

Children’s privacy

FretSense is a general-audience music education tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as FretSense changes. The latest version will remain available at this URL with its revision date.
